An interesting variety to the holes, with really no parallel fairways. The course is rarely crowded, making a 4-hour round pretty much guaranteed. When was the last time you teed off 20 minutes early because there was no one else around?

The all-grass driving range really needs some work; it's like practicing nothing but shots from the rough.

This is the course I grew up on as a kid, and it continues to be one of my favorites anywhere; I've probably played it 200 times by now. Although it is officially a military course and on the property of Vandenberg Air Force Base, civilians are allowed to play. Like La Purisima 10 miles away, wind is a major factor here, and the 16th hole at 420 uphill into the wind can be almost inreachable when it's blowing. It's an older and more traditional layout with huge eucalyptus trees lining almost every fairway. Stay out of them at all costs! The greens are small, making accurate approach shots a must. It's a challenging course, and once you're on it will turn out to be tougher than it looks.
