Shoots in the 90s
The renovation of this course that took place a couple of years ago has improved the overall condition of the course, but the layout really has not improved. A couple of my favorite holes have been changed. Number 6 was an intriguing dog leg par 4 with several chances to recover if you didn't hit your first shot just right and number 9 was a short dog-leg par 5 which was really a lot harder than it appeared due to a small creek and a tilted green which had to be handled with care. These two holes are shortened to a par 3 and par 4. It was and is a good walking course. They have also cut the new rough back to the point where balls are not as easily lost as they first were after the renovation. The bottom-line is that it is a marginally better course with a more than marginal increase in price. Other local courses such as Indian Valley are much better values. This course happens to be very close to where I live. If location where not a criterion, I would rate it below Bennett Valley in Santa Rosa, a public course costing half as much for none residents. If you have no interest in value, try it for its tricked-up greens. |

Peacock Gap is a good place to go to have a good time and build confidence. It is an easy golf course with many short par-4’s and par 5’s and with few hazards and O.B. The setting is nice with hillsides in view on most holes. Though most of the course is lined with houses. The condition is fair. When I last played it (7/11/06) the fairways were partially burnt out. The greens held well but were cut pretty long had some burnout or fungus near many of the edges. It is a good course for walking or pulling as it is flat, short, and there are short walks between holes. Overall, this course is a great value and enjoyable time. But don’t expect to be challenged with long second shots or legitimate par 5’s. |

Decent course in sunny part of Marin County. The course is fairly flat, with little hazards, although there are a fre holes with water in play, including a creek. Greens are areated twice a year, but are quite bumpy and are really flat. This compares unfavorably with other courses in the area, e.g., Presidio, San Geronimo and Indian Valley. Tee boxes can be pretty beat up, but on average. There is a large amount of goose waste (if you get my meaning) on the faiways, particuarly 15-18 holes. Has a decent driving range, putting green and chipping area. Customer Service Always friendly Similar Products Used: restaurant is fine. Golf shop is small, but nice, range is better than most in the area, many days in the summer you can hit off the grass (it goes quickly). |
