This course is by far the best municipal course I've ever played. The front 9 isn't bad and has an interesting style the way it plays through the trees. The back nine is just stunning the way it lays out on the dunes. It has some signature holes including the par 5 12th that plays alongside the ocean and the 16th tee standing right next to the historic point pinos lighthouse. I would highly recomend anybody who wants to play Oceanside golf for a very cheap price. (45$)

My bf and I played on this course a year ago, and it still leaves a great impression.
It was my first few game on the green after getting my PC, and the awesome scenery put me at ease.
We play a few courses along our trip in California, this is my fav.

Shoots in the 80s

Best value! It's been said by many and I'd tend to agree, the front nine is nothing exceptional (I think the par 3s were redesigned during the remodel about 1-2 years ago). Keep in mind that this is a short course, so long hitters and low handicappers may find it boring. BUT, the back nine is memorable. I forgot the exact words of another reviewer, but if you don't think the back nine is special, you better just quit playing golf! I felt like I was in another country, with the ocean in the background, the ball hungry iceplant surrounding the fairways, pine trees, the cool ocean breeze, and the deer. My fun hole was #12, using the lounging deer's antlers as my 'line' for my blind shot over the hill to the green. (he never moved as I gathered my line and even after I hit my shot!)... lazy deer. (my first course review.)

I never played pebble, spanish bay or carnewstee, but you can't beat the value of this experience. The Experience at Koele on the island of Lanai is the only other course that provided such a unique experience.

The other reviewers have it right. Fantastic deal. The layout, greens and fairways were great. I played other courses in the area that were much more expensive and this is just as good. For views and feel, even better. If you don't absolutely love the back nine you should quit golf.

Model Reviewed: Pacific Grove Municipal

Easily the best municipal course I've ever played. What a steal! Short course...put up your driver on the back nine and rip your 3 and 4 irons. Walk this course, it's the only way to do it.

Customer Service

The shop guys are so busy, be patient with them.

This place always is busy. The tee times they have available seems to be in the afternoons at 3:00 pm. Fog rolls in there early, so it may get chilly at that time.

This used to be the best kept secret on the Peninsula, but not anymore. Come one come all, this is links golf in Pebble Beach (pacific grove actually), for 34 bucks! Back nine is windy, ocean side with sand dunes and iceplant. It is the reason for playing here, as the front is more typical muni style. I have heard that the fees cannot be raised too high because the land was dedicated by S.F.B. Morse (the guy behind Pebble Beach)to the City, and he wrote a covenant into the deed saying that it had to be kept a golf course and could not be operated for profit. For the locals, with all the 200-350 dollar courses around here, it is a godsend.

Customer Service

The pro shop guys are overrun, so they can get a little impatient if you are not withthe program

This course is a little gem. Holes 11-17 are along the ocean with spectacular views. This truly is "the poor man's Pebble Beach". With accurate tee shots and short irons you can really score here.

This is the course also known as "Poor man's pebble". It is mix between a typical muni style golf course, and a traditional links style course. If you have dreamed of playing Pebble Beach, but can't justify the $325 green fee, then this is the course for you. The front 9 is a nice muni style warm up for the challenging back 9. The back 9 holes combine amazing ocean views with enogh ice plant to drive you crazy.
