I will limit my input on this course. Generally the design layout, wind condtions, green fees, rattle snakes, make this course at the bottom of my list. Hole #17 looks like something you would find on an executive course. Hole #8 are you kidding me!! If you don't mind wasting your $$$$ play here..

I gave this course a try based on a number of favorable reviews, here and elsewhere. The course is wonderful. The tee boxes are flat, the fairways are lush, the rough is fair, the greens are receptive to a decent shot. The views are fantastic. I don't think it's fair to describe a round here, as some have, as one of 'target' golf, unless it's fair to describe all courses that way. See the fairway, hit the fairway. See the green, hit the green. With the exception of the tee shot on #4, there are no blind drives (and you'll need a good one from the tips and into the wind to reach the other side of the hill on this hole). There are a few elevated greens (#3, #10 and #16 come to mind), but you'll have a wedge in your hands. The eighth hole has received some criticim as being 'tricked up', but it's a lovely risk-reward hole if you ask me (it's pretty short at about 340 yds, but the tee is elevated by about 100+ feet from the green, visible below. A huge landing area is reached by a mid-iron, leaving a wedge to the green. Alternatively, you can give your driver a lash and try for the green. A good drive will put you close to the green, looking at a probable birdie. Reach the green and you're a hero. Miss it badly and, well, tee up another ball and enjoy the view. I played in the afternoon as the wind was dying, the sun setting, the full moon rising. Glorious. It'll surely play a few strokes tougher in a good breeze, but the fairways generally feed into the middle and you'll get more good bounces than bad ones. For those of you who've been punished by Lost Canyons (I've played the Shadow course a couple of times), this course is 'fairer' by about 1/2 stroke a hole.

Customer Service

Service is excellent. One example - the chap ahead of me at the ball machine took the last of the balls. A guy at the pro shop was down in no time with a big bucket of balls for me and for those after me.

I played this course on 7-25-03. It was my first time and if I had not had a playing partner with local knowledge, it would have been impossible to enjoy. Too many blind shots, greens with very little usable surface and missing certain fairways or greens by 5 yards puts you out of bounds. It's target golf for sure, but with the wind and perpetual undulations everywhere, even good shots can be distastrous. I was a little disappointed with the amount of ball marks left on the greens, but they all rolled true and were consistent from hole to hole. The course is very well maintained, and the pace of play was average considering how many provisionals and penalty strokes were being taken. For $85, I am not sure I would consider this a worthwhile experience. The course is hard enough without having to endure 2-shot penalties every three or four holes. Oh, they should make mid to high handicappers stay away from the black and blue tes, because they will beat you up! Experienced golfers (read good golfers) will enjoy the challenge, but have your game together because you will not find it on this course.

I did not much like this course. The front nine is tricked up, and had some joke holes. Back nine was somewhat better, but the front nine had me so disappointed that I didn''t enjoy it much. Be prepared for a lot of long irons off the tee. Keep it LOW, the wind can really blow out here.

Customer Service

O.K. When I was there they were going bankrupt and the people in the pro shop were all waiting for the hammer to fall.

I received an invitation to play this course, and after reading the other reviews, I was very apprehensive expecting a wasted round of golf. Boy was I wrong!!! DO NOT believe the negative reviews!!! I personally thought the course had a wonderful layout with a lot of character such as 200 yard carries, wind, and an impossible postage stamp green on the 105 yd 17th. The fairways were in excellent condition. The greens were hard as with any new course, with lots of undulations, but in great shape. I did not pay for the round but their prices are reasonable--$55 for weekdays, and $75 on weekends. One word of caution on the 13th fairway, which is adjacent to the driving range, if there is a big hitter on the range the range balls come flying onto the fairway...I spoke to the manager of the course about this and he said they can't put up higher fences due to city regulations. In the two years that they've been open nobody has been pelted yet. Can you say lawsuit? Overall I really enjoyed the course.

Overall the course was excellent. Green, fairway and tee boxes. Since the price of the coarse has dropped dramatically it makes a much better round. I played there last year and they were way, way over prices.

dont waste your money here. the fairways, greens and tees are in nice shape but the design of the course is awful. many holes require shots that can not be hit on an average basis. hole #8 for example requires a carry of over 200 yards down a 150 ft. hill, into the wind and you are hitting to a fairway that is 15 yards wide. greens here have 90 degree ledges on them and the course overall was a brain fart on the designers part.

After playing all Ventura County course Tierra Rejada ranks
at "the bottom" of the list. Thou course conditions are
favorable (fairways, greens & tee boxes), the overall course
layout is extremely poor. (Rob Cupp shame on you!!). If you are planning on shelling out $100 call in advance to check
wind conditions (2 to 4 clubs more into wind very severe)!!
Facilities are nice, but DEFINATELY not in the $100 per
round catagory.. If you are a high to mid handicapper, bring
alot of balls, you will need them.
In summary, save your money, because Tierra Rejada is no
up-scale golf course even thou they (mgmt) may think so..
I hear rumors that they are in financial difficulty
(recievership) which tells you something!!!

Customer Service

tee times easy to get, since no-one really wants to get ripped-off!!

Course layout very hilly, many blind shots. Wind definately
a major factor, 2-4 clubs difference into wind.Condition
not bad. Facilities are very good.
This course is "very over priced" for what you get.
Carts have distance devices to pin..(it bad). No yardage
markers in fairways..Greens nice, very fast.
Some holes poorly laid out. Most tee shots elevated.
I would not suggest this course to a friend.
Rates vary $75 to $100. They should be about $40 to $60
range.
If your handicap is above 10, be prepared to lose at least
4 to 6 balls..

Front nine will get 6 balls first time out. So tough its silly. By far the best course and layout I've played in some time. Its like being at a private club. You pull up they unload your clubs and park them with your cart at the clubhouse. Everyone is addressed as sir or madam. Every spot on the course provides a great view. The back nine makes up for the front. Very difficult course overall.
