The course is a serviceable public course that gets significantly less play that average for Southern California. Abundant, mature trees provide most of the challenge. Course condition is really quite good considering the cost. There are some difficult holes, but no great ones. David Rainville lacks imagination, so many holes are straightforward except for a tree in the middle of the fairway or in front of the green. A couple of the holes (the 100 yard, uphill 9th, or the 317 yard 14th come to mind) seem to be laid out just because he needed a hole there.

Solid, affordable, public course layout that should appeal to golfers of all levels. I love this course because I get to use every club in my bag and have opportunities to be creative with shot patterns (fades/draws).

This is not a resort course that is beautifully groomed but always seems to be in decent shape. Rough is usually low and foregiving. Fairways may have a few rought spots but are always playable....ground under repair is usually marked. Greens tend to be nicked up from those hackers who don't understand the etiquette of the game but are playable.

Weekend rates are under $40 (walking) which makes it an exceptional value near San Diego. Course is easy to walk.....a few elevation changes but nothing that should impact your decision.

There is definately trouble to get yourself into but those who hit fairways and greens will be rewarded with a good score.

If you are from out of town you can find many nicer golf experiences in the area, however, for those locals looking for a course to play a few rounds out during the year, this is a must.

A fun course. Fallbrook has enjoyed a favorable reputation since it opened in the early 1960's. It's a public layout that especially appeals to golfers of average ability. You'll begin with a challenging tee shot on
# 1, especially for those right handers who tend to fade the ball.( A generous fairway is bordered by water on the right and o.b. on the left.). My favorite holes are Nos.1, 6, 7,10, 12, 13, 14, and 17. Toughest green for me to hit in regulation has always been the par four #5, due to the need for an accurate, long, uphill shot to a narrow green. A great weekend would include a stay at Pala Mesa Resort, also in Fallbrook, with rounds at both Pala Mesa and Fallbrook. A ten minute drive seperates the two courses. Fallbrook is a wonderful course for two couples on a somewhat budget conscious golf weekend holiday. All four of you will enjoy yourselves on a course that is consistently kept in nice condition.
