Shoots in the 80s

This course is all about the greens, without a doubt the best greens I've ever played. The ball runs perfectly true even when it loses speed and comes to a stop or drops. If you want to gain confidence in your putter, this is the place. Front 9 is much easier than the back, approach shots need to be high and stop which is difficult because the fairways are cut real close. Often windy in the PM. I'll remember this course forever just because I made every putt, had a 20' on 18 for par and just knew it was going in and it did.

Shoots in the 70s

Well just got back from playing it 2 days ago and it was better than I expected. The one major bummer is that the back holes #10 through 14 or 15 was all mud! I mean put the waters on muddy. I couldnt believe that they would let a course of this caliber get that muddy. Drives would plug in the middle of the fairway. You walk to the middle of the fairway and it feels like you are wearing plungers for shoes. We asked the ranger why it is so wet and muddy and he said those holes always have drainage issues. Whatever the problem is it needs to get fixed. It is really too bad too cause these are some of the best holes on the whole course. All of the greens were in immaculate condition which helps to justify the $165 green fee. Course would be great in the summer but winter and fall bring your mudders.....

With all the upscale courses in the area, this one is worth the $$$$. Staff very friendly, Condition perfect. The resort is beautiful, rooms were huge. Overall facility was better than Lodge at Pebble Beach or Inn at Spanish Bay. (all that is missing is the Ocean.) I would definitly stay hare and play here again. Plenty of wild life. Had to play from blue tees on one hole cause a bunch of wild turkeys on the black tees.

Shoot in the 80s

I enjoy Carmel Valley Ranch, both the lodge and golf course. The lodge is one of the best in the area, each room having a living room with fireplace. Some rooms have private hot tubs.

The course is fun to play and differs greatly from front to back. The back is very hilly; the front plays on flat land.

It's always in great condition, the greens are not tough, but roll well. The weather is always warmer here than down on the ocean where you'll find Pebble Beach.

All in all, one of Pete & Alice Dye's tamer resort designs. Well worth playing when in the Monterey area.
