I am 72 and play this course every week when the weather allows. The course is lined with huge Oak trees that come into play if you are close! The greens are kept fit and the fairways are good. The problem with the facility is TUESDAY's Ladies Day... If you have a tee time say 6:30am and you get to the 7th tee, you will be met with 2 foursomes of Ladies (I use that word lightly) that will move in on your game and start their 8:00am shotgun tournament. These ladies will piddle around and take 7 shots on the way to the green then screw around 5 more putts .. its extremely maddening to try and finish, by this time your game is ruined.. So a word to the wise, never play on Tuesday mornings.. Course is like playing an 18 hole course. Long and challenging..

Customer Service

The management is great, Norm is very gracious and most of the other managers are fine. The refreshment bar has beer (which you cannot take on the course) sandwiches and hot dogs. Friendly nice people here..

Nice 9 hole course, not long, but deceptively difficult. Subtle elevation changes necessitate careful club selection. Condition is a little on the rough side, but a good way to kill 2+ hours.

Customer Service

Nice folks, reminds me of that line in The Hustler..."No pinball, no bowling alley, just pool...this is Ames, mister!"

Well, at Black Oak, they just do Golf.

A pretty 9-hole regulation course. Fairways are lined with large, mature California oaks. It is set in the Sierra foothills. Course claims to be the most difficult in N. Calif. (I guess it could be). In reality, the course is not all that difficult. Good for all levels of play including beginners. Course has some mild elevation changes, good number of dog-leg lefts, some water and sand. Most fairways are open with a little target golf here and there. Nothing really all that memorable. Easy to walk. This course sees a lot of play and rounds can be slow. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are in pretty rough shape. Still it is a fun course. Played early Sept. 03. Price $13-$40.

Customer Service

Good staff. Emphasis is on golf, not food and drink.

An excellent nine hole course which requires shot making on every shot. Tree lined fairways grab lots of balls so accuracy is at a premium. However, it's a challenging, fair layout which rewards good play. Most 18 hole course don't have nine holes that match up to the challenge of Black Oak.
