On a weekday morning, I was one of the first players there. I was informed by the helpful staff the previous day that the wind kicks up around 11:00 when the fog burns off, so I went early the next morning.

Good practice facility. A golfer that I was paired with (named Amby) explained that the course (designed by Peter Jacobsen) has tried to court Hank Haney and had set up all kinds of practice facilities, but Haney backed out of the deal. So they are left with a very generous driving range, and large practice green (chipping allowed, but restricted to chips from the fringe), and an odd pitching green placed near the parking lot.

I did not find the staff very snooty at all. They were very helpful and willing to dispense advice about the winds, the fog and the speed of the greens.

My handicap is a 6, I was playing to a 10, and I shot a 77 that morning. There was little wind, there were few other players, and the course suited my eye. The greens were fast, about 11 on the stimp, but I had just played La Purisima two days before, so I was ready.

I understand that the course builders tore down a whole forest of cypress trees for this course, but they compensated somewhat by making it a kind of Audobon bird refuge with bird friendly trees. Odd.

I'd play it again because it was fun. I might play the hybrid yardages, a combination of whites and blues, instead of the whites next time.

Customer Service

Very helpful. Answered all questions, no BS. Even the guy fixing up the range area was helpful, stopping to talk to me about playing the course.

Plays similarly to the courses in Riverside, CA, that wind through the hills and homes. Watch the fast greens, however.

Nice course, but there are better ones in the area (Monarch Dunes, La Purisima, Marshalla Ranch, Morro Bay and Hunter Ranch).

Customer Service

Staff is a little snooty. They think the place is more upscale than it really is.

Great condition in a nice area. Fairways are somewhat wide and well maintained. Has a good mix of risk/ reward holes that can help or hurt your score.

Customer Service

Very good

A very beautiful golf course. It has a good many elevation changes and is a great deal of fun to play. Conditions are superb. This course''s greens really stop balls. Probably had something to do with the 3 1/2 hours of rain just prior to play. Greens are true and roll nicely. Fairways and tees are very nicely kept. Unique course. Many memorable holes. Well worth playing. But, Centex homes are in the process of building a great many homes on this course. So play it as soon as you can. $60 with West Coast value book. About $85 without.

Customer Service

Good.
