Model Reviewed: Hot Springs CC ARLINGTON COURSE

The Arlington course is one of the most humbling golf courses I've ever played. Seems like I never had a level lie on any of the fairways. Lots of doglegs and deep traps. Was renovated by Ben Crenshaw several years ago and it is a tough course. Lots of hills and the greens are very undulating. Be ready for a real test of golf The Majestic is alot easier. There are very few hills on the Majestic and it alot straighter. Very few dog legs. Both courses are in great shape and the new clubhouse is very nice.

I played the Majestic Course. I have not played the Arlington course. It's not really a daily fee course; it's a private club with limited access for hotel guests at the Arlington or Majestic Hotels. Majestic course was designed by Willie Park (early U. S. Open champion) around 1908. Very nice old layout, straightaway with some water, lots of trees and bunkers. Greens are extremely good bent grass, smooth as a billiard table. It wasn't very crowded on a Saturday afternoon in June. My high-handicap friend had a great time. There are not too many hazards, so its a good course for the high handicapper. They have recently put a lot of money into the course, and built a tremendous clubhouse. The clubhouse, restaurant, and grill are very good. We had lunch there after our round, then took our wives back the next day for lunch, it was so good.
