I played at the Canyon Course. As the other review says, stray balls are most often lost, but not always. I have played most of the top end courses in Tucson to include Dove Mountain, Arizona National, Star Pass and both Tucson National courses. Overall, I thought Ventana stacked up very well to all of these courses. Of course Dove Mountain at the Ritz is in my opinion the best course in Tucson I have played, great layout. Back to Ventana, this was a great course, lots of fun to play and like most desert courses you have to think your way around, but there was still lots of opportunities to hit driver. I played in Jan 2011 and the course was in great shape as was the practice facility. Very scenic course with lots of wildlife and natural settings abound. There are some houses on the course, but I did not even notice them and they were not intrusive like on many courses. Overall this is a great course that I will play again and again.

Customer service was great and we saw the cart girl like 4 or 5 times in 18 holes.

Greens and fairways are kept in very good condition and free range balls are available. Package vactions available from the lodge allowing play on both courses and for non-golfers accompaning you there is a spa and health center attached to the resort

High punishment for missing fairways which are often of only medium width. Not a course for a high handicapper with problems keeping the ball straight even from the forward tees. Course is spread out requiring use of a cart to get from one tee to the next. Don''t even think of trying to walk this puppy. Staging area is removed from first tees and from the parking lot so you will have to carry your bags on some narrow walk ways to get them on a cart. Hole teeing areas are not always well marked requiring some back tracking at times.

There are two courses at Ventana the mountian and the Canyon. This review applies to canyon course. Course is spread out over the foothills in Tuscon.
