Also not to add to a long review, but I paid $40 to play at this course, wouldn't you expect more for you money too? |

I played at Ken Mcdonald this weekend, and felt compeled to write a review. The course is long for a municiple course and it does have some fairly challenging holes. There is plenty of water around the fairways, both ponds and flowing right between fairways the phoenix canal system. The course is good shape overall. The fairways are usually in great shape with the exception of the dead of summer. The pin placements are good, and they change them fairly often. The only real complaint I have with the whole course in general is with the staff at the proshop. In the several times I have played there it always flat out sucks. Usually its any number of zit faced high school kids who find their limited authority going to their heads. Ask a simple question get a surly answer. Very unprofessional. The nail in the coffin for this course in my mind is that the children running the shop have no concept of how to keep the course/golfers moving. During my weekend trip my foursome chose to ride for the day only to find ourselves trapped behind 5 seperate foursomes all of whom were walking and all of whow could not maintain any reasonable pace. In example it took my group 2 hours to complete the first three holes of the day, due to having to wait for the groups in front of us to move along. It should have been simple enough for us to bypass a group but when you have five foursomes all of whom are walking it is impossible. At any other course you would normally have a course martial out to move the slower groups along. However at no point in time did that happen. The course martial was nowhere to be found until after our round where we discovered it was one of the afore mentioned zit faces from the proshop who was far to busy hitting on the drink cart girl to bother following up on the course. This whole mess would not bother me as much if I had not heard from several others who play here more regularly than I that this behaviour and level of customer service is a normal occurance. . To give you an idea of how slow the pace of play we stated playing at 12:05 and finished at 5:23 Oh yeah by the way we stopped playing after the 14th hole since the 15th had a back up of 3 foursomes. typical, and terrible. sorry for a long review Customer Service The worst I have ever had At any golf course anywhere at anytime. |

A good basic muni course, usually in pretty good shape. Very inexpensive, so it is usually crowded. Not terribly difficult but some interesting holes with water in play. |
