4 star course - 0 star resort.

Course is scenic and beautiful. Lots of wildlife on this tiered course. A lot of fun to play but tough for a beginner. Green fees are REALLY high in the peak season. But who want to golf in 112 degree heat even if it is cheaper?

DO NOT stay at the resort. Rooms are terribly outdated, run down and cheezy. More like a highway truckstop than a $200 per night resort. They have a lovely outdoor patio where they serve you lousy food and drinks. Such a shame, they have a beautiful golf course but everything else is just run down and awful. It's a "scratch the surface" phenomenon. They try and make it LOOK like they're upscale, but there is nothing upscale about this place. The cheesiness really oozes through here.

Customer Service

Staff looks beaten down. Droning from place to place. I had lunch there (mistake) and when the manager asked how everything was, I said "Well, it wasn't great." He looked at me like I had a third eye in my forehead. Didn't ask why he didn't offer to help. Not surprising coming from a guy who looks like he'd fit right in holding a winning rooster at a cockfight.

Golf course is nice, but the resort part, i.e. rooms, restaurant are second rate. Come to play, not to stay.

Very nice course layout. Could not get the GPS to work until we unplugged the unit then powered it up.

Customer Service

The Pro Shop staff were rude. In fact , I have never been treated so rudely in my life at a golf resort. They will take your money but that is where the service stops.

Played the Dinosaur. Was not very much fun at all. Course was OK in places but the greens were just far to fast for resort golf players. Also, fat to may players on the course who were way over their heads. This is a classic resort course that in places felt unplayable.

Customer Service

Friendly staff.

We played Dinosaur Mountain in early October. THIS COURSE IS PHENOMENAL! I have played many of the top courses throughout the U.S. and this is my new favorite. I love a course with wonderful views and dramatic elevation changes and this course does not disappoint. We had a camera with us and I think we took a photo on every hole. I feel this course is a must play. When I booked for golf in Arizona this is what I was looking for. I did not play the Sidewinder course. It looks nice but it is not the mountain style course that Dinosaur is, so we skipped it. I've heard it's straightforward, decent and not to tough. Be careful - the views and elevation changes at Dinosaur Mountain can really knock you off your game!

Customer Service

Service and employees were excellent. Not a drawback for me, but could be for some, is the driving range. You have to hit off mats and you can't hit driver on the range.

Group of 8 went down Mid-march 2007 and without question these two courses stood out. Notice I said courses. Had a 7:30 tee-time at the Dinosaur cours and showed up at 6 45 only to be told, Mr. I dont have you down. Just the start of the pathetic service here. The starter was rude, took 7 holes to get a beverage from the cart girl and to top it off, a marshall tells us to speed up play. Now mind you on the g.p.s. system, we are only 6 minutes behind play through 15 holes. Now there is no one behind us for a hole and a half. Anyway, the golf couses were tremendous, the views spectacular, and a good time was had by all before it was all said an done. Tops of the courses that we played while there in four days, just the service could be better.

Customer Service

Besides the starter and marshalls on the Dinosaur course and playing 7 holes without getting a drink, it wasnt that bad once we got to the Sidewinder course. The starter there, I think Lyle was his name was nice as can be and the service was much quicker.

Two beautiful golf courses situated in a magical area. The views of the Superstition Mountains are spectacular! I have played both the Dinosaur Mountain and the Sidewinder courses, and both are kept in great shape all year. Some reviewers mentioned that these were hard courses, but I found them to be fair. The greens roll true and consistent. They also have some nice rentals on the Sidewinder course with great views, which made it very convenient for playing there. I can't wait to get back there and play again!

Customer Service

The club assistants and starters were pleasant and helpful. The restaurant has a nice patio to sit out on, and the ribs there are great if you are having dinner.

Gold Canyon Sidewinder course review: Played the course in mid-March. Overall, I liked the course. The fairways, greens, and bunkers were in outstanding shape. The course does wind through a housing development for the most part, a negative which is somewhat made up for by the nice views of the surrounding mountains. It is a fairly flat course in general, with a few exceptions. The design was reasonably interesting strategically. The starter told us that he thought it was harder than Dinosaur, but that seems hard to believe, although I can't say for sure since we didn't play the latter. The main challenges were the the washes that criss cross the course (as per usual for desert courses), fairly hard and sometimes elevated greens that weren't very receptive to lower shots, and sometimes a narrow landing area for the tee shot. If I were to go back, I'd play from the black tees instead of the blues, which led to lots of irons off the tee for par 4s (and would have been perfectly appropriate for some of the par 5s as well). I would definitely return to play Sidewinder for the $60 I paid, and would also be interested in playing Dinosaur as well.

Customer Service

Above average, for sure.
