Tannehill National is a "good" golf course. However, if you go during busy times expect to play in a foursome. I was told that a two some would be fine. After driving 40 miles and our tee time delayed for grass cutting we were told that we would have to play in a foursome. I explained that I was a beginner and not that good; "you must play in a foursome". I don't have a problem with the policy as long as I'm told up front. The Capstone Club was more than happy to accomodate me.

Tannehill National has got to be one of the best courses in the state. The fairways this past summer looked better than a lot of greens I've seen. From the back tees the course is near perfect. It is pretty much wide open but, there is a creek that comes into play on several holes and the strategically placed ponds can make you pay for a bad tee shot. The greens are fast but they hold shots and roll true.You just can't find bermuda greens that stay as consistant as their's do.

Not too long, but you must drive it in the right place. Greens range from super fast and hard to medium fast and soft. Almost never slow. A few holes can be wet after rains, but mostly dry. A few places where you cross the creek tend to slow play down, but overall good pace.

Location: just 25 miles outside of Birmingham makes for a very peaceful four to five hours. Staff is very considerate and helpful. Club house is nothing special, but meets all the golfers needs.

If you can't hit a drive at least 250 yds, you have to play the front tees or lay up on several tee shots.

Very nice golf course. Not long but very demanding. A creek crosses through the course several time making tee shots difficult to judge carry. Water play into about half the hole, if you slice. Green are bent and can be very slick at times. Course is well maintained. One or two spots hold water after a heavy rain, otherwise no problems at all.
